When is an AI agent worth it? A 4-condition checklist and ROI formula

A popular tweet lays out a practical framework for deciding when to deploy an AI agent — worth it only if four conditions hold:
- The task recurs at least X times per week
- It requires some judgment (fixed rules → a script does it for free)
- An error costs less than the time saved
- The result is measurable (minutes, euros, or errors)
The deciding math: minutes per task × times per month × your hourly rate = current cost. Example: 15 min × 20 × €40/h = €200/month; if running and supervising the agent costs more, it loses.
The author shares a real case: producing one video manually (idea + script + voice + video) takes 20–30 minutes, and he wants 3 per day; an agent costs €0.3 per video, saving roughly 1.5 hours daily.
