Ex-miHoYo team's Botbang raises $10M+ to make 3D AI characters truly act
新智元 · wechat · 2026-10-12
BanTu (半图科技), founded by ex-miHoYo AI research lead Xing Jun, raised over $10M (Legend Capital-led, IDG re-investing) to build a "human behavior model" that gives 3D AI characters continuous, believable actions instead of just chat.
Key points:
- Targets the gap between intent and action: outputs structured, reusable 3D behavior assets that plug into existing game engine pipelines, decoupled from LLM inference to control costs
- Built a large-scale data pipeline amassing 500K hours of structured human behavior data (motion, facial expression, object interaction)
- Its AI companion product Code: Live hit 72% day-1 retention, 57% day-5 retention and 200 daily interaction rounds in September testing
- Offers standardized APIs and is expanding the behavior model to embodied-AI simulation with partners
