Research: AI Content Flood Is Already Eroding Human Creative Innovation
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-12
New research finds AI's spread is already reducing artistic and intellectual innovation, despite claims that humans remain the final arbiter of creative decisions. AI-generated content is crowding out human work online, with algorithms increasingly promoting AI material—making the internet more uniform and narrowing creative diversity. Studies of generative systems show models that repeatedly regenerate their own outputs collapse toward generic themes; researchers who chained text-to-image and image-to-text models found even highly varied prompts converged on uninspired visuals, a pattern they dubbed "visual elevator music."
