Designing 'improve this frontier run' tasks: specify state, mechanism and metric to prevent mode collapse
menhguin · x · 2026-10-12
Continuing the autoresearch discussion, menhguin argues that designing an 'improve this frontier run' task means describing the desired state, mechanism and metric as concretely as possible (e.g. with Exa search for context). This substantially anchors the model and delays mode collapse — but then again, it's not really fully autonomous autoresearch.
