NVIDIA Reportedly Discontinuing RTX 5090 as GB202 Silicon Shifts to AI-Focused RTX PRO GPUs
mark_k · x · 2026-10-11
Hardware leakers report NVIDIA may discontinue the RTX 5090, with future GB202 production reserved for professional RTX PRO GPUs; the RTX 5080 16GB could also be replaced by a 24GB model. Not officially confirmed, but the economics are clear: the same silicon sells for $2,000 to gamers or many times that in professional AI hardware. Gaming and AI are competing for the same chips — and AI is winning.
