A software engineer offers a counterintuitive take: mathematicians might actually be in a worse spot than software engineers.
SWE still requires taste, design, intuition and real-world context that AI often struggles with — plus someone needs to understand what they're shipping. Math, by contrast, is more about following logic toward a clear goal, which seems easier for AI to handle.
