Codex Windows dot blocked by sandbox sharing violation on node_repl.exe ACL setup
JRI-ghub-useracct · ghdev · 2026-10-09
A user reports that Codex desktop 26.1002's Windows dot cannot read project files on a connected, authorized PC — every read fails during sandbox setup with helperunknownerror: setup refresh had errors, while local Codex on the same machine works.
Diagnostics point to Windows error 32 (sharing violation): sandbox setup attempts an ACL operation on the running noderepl.exe, and MAXIMUMALLOWED requests fail while READCONTROL succeeds. A second PC with the same desktop build works, with matching runtime hashes. The author notes working local Codex uses the MXC path while failing dot requests enter the legacy sandbox ACL setup path, referencing upstream fix PR #51822.
