Dadabots to AI musicians: expose the wires, don't rear-view drive
jasonbaldridge · x · 2026-10-11
Experimental music duo Dadabots issued a manifesto for AI music creation: lean all the way into AI/ML, expose the wires, show the ugly parts and the it-being-itself. Make it actually glitch — show it fucking up while trying not to — rather than generating what the model thinks 'glitch music' is. Their core critique: the controls these tools expose push you into 'rear-view driving' (imitating the past); breaking that takes deliberate effort. Kill the rock star, the DJ, the singer-songwriter — start with beginner's mind and drive somewhere new.
