Lemire reruns 2026 WebSocket benchmarks: his old Bun-vs-Node.js result was wrong, Anthropic bought Bun and Cloudflare bought Deno

Daniel Lemire published an updated 2026 benchmark of WebSocket servers across Node.js, Bun and Deno.
- The test simulates two clients relaying messages through a server, the pattern behind live chat, notifications, multiplayer games, collaborative editing and streaming dashboards.
- He admits his earlier finding that Bun was twice as fast as Node.js was wrong: his Bun server echoed messages back to the sender, so a round trip counted two messages instead of four, skewing the comparison.
- He also notes the consolidation wave: Anthropic bought Bun, and Cloudflare bought Deno.
A useful reference for anyone picking a JavaScript runtime for persistent-connection backends.
