One-line agent skill taps Gaia DR3 to build 3D star maps from real astronomy data
TinfoilTricorn · x · 2026-10-10
Day 6 of Simon Farmer's '7 Skills for Science Data' series shows an agent skill that exposes the Gaia DR3 star catalog: install with npx skills add SimonGFarmer/skills --skill gaia-tap-data, then let your agent pull measured sky positions, BP-RP color indices, and magnitudes to build interactive 3D visualizations.
The live demo renders real starfields — the Pleiades, Southern Beehive, and nearby stars within 100 pc — with colors and brightness driven directly by Gaia measurements. A neat example of wiring real scientific datasets into agents and letting them build the tools for you.
