SQUISH: 355k rectangular packings improve 15 square-packing records with near-zero compute
ctjlewis · x · 2026-10-10
- A project idea called SQUISH (Mondrian composition) works in two steps: compile a database of 355k rectangular packings, then fit rectangular packing blocks together into super-square packings.
- The approach improves 15 standing best-known square packing records by 4e-3 to 1e-2, using basically no compute.
