A Polished AI Research Answer Was Dangerously Wrong — a Postmortem on Verification
Annual_Judge_7272 · reddit · 2026-10-10
The poster asked an AI research tool to analyze a telecom/satellite-spectrum announcement. The answer looked professional but was misleading: wrong spectrum significance, missed Nextel/Sprint history, wrongly implied towers were needed for direct-to-cell satellite, and misquoted AT&T's CEO. Only after repeated pushback did the tool check FCC records and transcripts. Lesson: presentation quality ≠ research quality; consequential work requires primary sources, exact quotes, fact/interpretation separation, and human judgment.
