UIUC, Google, Stanford, Berkeley & CMU release survey on proactive AI agents
liliang_ren · x · 2026-10-10
Researchers from UIUC, Google, Stanford, UC Berkeley and CMU released the survey "Proactive AI for Superintelligent Agents", tackling a key question: agents execute tasks well when asked — but can they figure out what's worth doing and start before being asked? The cross-disciplinary team (agents, embodied AI, IR, computational biology, economics, finance) argues that as finding papers gets cheaper, a survey's value lies in hard-earned research intuition: what matters and what to try next. Contributors drafted sections closest to their own work, refined through rounds of cross-field discussion. Paper and website are public.
