Pew: 1 in 10 Webpages Show AI Authorship, Over 1/3 of Post-ChatGPT Pages Do
shashib · x · 2026-10-10
Marketing analyst Shashi Bellamkonda cites Pew Research Center data from a random sample of 10,000 webpages collected in July 2026 to quantify AI's grip on content production:
- 1 in 10 webpages show significant signs of AI authorship
- For pages published after ChatGPT's November 2022 launch, the share rises past one in three
- By domain: .com sites show AI authorship at roughly 2x the rate of .org sites and 10x the rate of .edu/.gov sites — and marketing content lives almost entirely where AI writing is most common
His takeaway: AI is already embedded in the content stack, and marketing teams must confront that reality.
