VC bets on machine economy: agents will buy compute, data and API calls
LexSokolin · x · 2026-10-10
Investor Lex Sokolin lays out his machine-economy thesis: agents that autonomously buy compute, data, and API calls. As a counterpoint he cites Coinbase data from one September week — Grok drove 59.5% of agent trading volume, ChatGPT just 1.5%, with no dollar total disclosed. He concludes that's a leaderboard of trading agents, a different business from true machine-to-machine consumption.
