A quote-thread on AI paper flooding: @plazined notes their PhD advisor got an email from a student 8 months into research who has 16 solo papers published in 2026, nearly all at real AI conferences including ICML — all flagged as likely AI-generated by Pangram. Their take: academic AI research has to reinvent itself fast.
@JessicaHullman adds that such students' lack of experience and taste becomes immediately recognizable once they interact with faculty and senior students in a lab.
