The semantic trap in 'can AI think' debates: information processing is far broader than programs
AndyMasley · x · 2026-10-10
Andy Masley points out a persistent semantic confusion in the 'can AI think' debate: many people read 'information processing' narrowly as the way computers handle programs, but computers can also perform the much broader kind of information processing in which information flows in any way any physical system does. Conflating the two makes people wrongly assume computer programs can only process information in one particular way.
