Using a 3.66B logic-only model as a second-opinion checker for approval agents

A developer building finance-automation agents shared a failure mode: the main agent reads policy and request, then confidently approves things the policy doesn't allow. His fix: before any hard-to-undo action, a small separate model re-reads the policy, facts, and decision and answers only "does this follow from the rules?"—otherwise escalate to a human. He picked webAI's new TwIL-LM3 Pro (3.66B, logic-only) over Qwen3-8B: 55.4 vs 53.4 on its logic benchmark at less than half the size, 67% on entailment questions, 95.4% on a logic puzzle set, and 2x+ checks per second, all in a 2GB download that runs locally. Limits: worse at general tasks, long thinking gets truncated without enough tokens, and a non-commercial license.
