AWS ML Blog · rss · 2026-10-09

AWS's official ML blog recaps September 2026 updates for AI builders across Bedrock, AgentCore, and the open source Strands toolkit.

Models: OpenAI's Astra, Sol, and Luna lines are now GA on Bedrock (GPT-6 Astra supports 1M input tokens; Ultrafast tier runs up to 6x faster). Claude additions include Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, and Sonnet 5.5 (30% cheaper and 30% faster per task than Sonnet 5). Moonshot's Kimi K3 arrives on Bedrock — claimed first open model at 2.8 trillion parameters with a 1M-token window. xAI's Grok 4.6/4.7 bring 500K context and configurable reasoning effort.

Agents: Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI is in public preview, keeping data in AWS with IAM reuse and CloudTrail audit. The AgentCore runtime cuts cold-start latency with pay-as-you-go pricing. New open source Strands Harness matches popular harnesses on accuracy while using 28% fewer tokens; Strands Decider is a 2B open decision model answering in 115ms locally for tool selection and routing.

Knowledge: Managed Knowledge Base adds scheduled auto-sync and native connectors for ServiceNow, Salesforce, Zendesk, and more.
