This Workflow Uses Astra to Edit Video Autonomously: 20 Mins Setup, 2 Mins of Feedback per Hour
nickbaumann_ · x · 2026-10-09
nick baumann shared his full workflow for video editing with the agent Astra:
- Runs entirely in a devbox: uploads and rendering don't tax his laptop, and he can steer remotely from his phone
- Astra processes all footage frame by frame, generates transcripts, and builds a manifest of every take — including his verbal on-set notes about good/bad takes
- He reuses the pre-filming Codex thread to generate a storyboard from the footage before producing a v1
- For iteration, Astra spins up a Frameio-style review pane in the IAB so he can leave timestamped comments
Net effect: 20 mins of setup, then only 2 mins of comments per hour until he's happy with the cut.
