Claim-Locked Reporting: EMNLP paper fixes LLM hallucinated claims over correct numbers
jiqizhixin · x · 2026-10-09
LLMs can transcribe every number correctly in statistical reports while misstating what those numbers mean — an error standard checks almost never catch, especially when dense numeric inputs become prose in clinical summaries, report writing, or AI peer review.
The EMNLP 2026 paper "Provenance Before Prose: Claim-Locked Reporting for Statistical Text Generation" proposes locking each claim to its provenance before prose generation, ensuring outputs are reproducible and trustworthy — so a correct number can no longer hide a wrong conclusion.
