anselm · x · 2026-10-09
Cryptographer ebfull criticized Justin Drake's recent "alarmism/vagueposting" on quantum threats, arguing it will cause damage in multiple ways and amounts to a major self-own for his own quantum-risk advocacy.
He stresses the quantum/AI threat is real and teams are making practical decisions to respond — some with top cryptographers in-house, others relying on trusted experts — but the problem is nearly impossible to explain to non-cryptographers, so experts have a responsibility to stay levelheaded.
