SilkStack v2.4: open-source local browser for AI images with on-device semantic search
skk80 · reddit · 2026-10-09
Developer skk80 released SilkStack Image Browser v2.4, a desktop app (forked from Image MetaHub) for organizing and viewing AI-generated images and videos.
Core features
- Indexes output folders from ComfyUI, A1111 and similar tools with live watching, reading embedded metadata (including WebP)
- Search and filter by prompt, model, LoRAs, steps, CFG, sampler, seed and more
- Similarity stacks group near-identical generations into one card and highlight differing prompt words; images can be dragged into ComfyUI to reload workflows
- Supports MP4/WEBM/GIF video
On-device AI: auto-tagging and semantic search run entirely on your own GPU — a small LLM writes tags and an embedding model enables meaning-based retrieval, so describing an image in different words or another language still finds it. AI features are premium (7-day trial, then subscription or lifetime license), with manual model loading/ejection to control VRAM. Everything else is fully open source, available for Windows/macOS/Linux.
