Open-source Android app Angel runs MCP servers on-device and hands tools to local or cloud models

A developer open-sourced Angel, a public-domain Android app that installs and runs MCP servers on-device (inside a proot Linux distro) and exposes their tools to local or cloud models.
Highlights:
- Ships a hand-checked featured set (Fetch, DuckDuckGo, Filesystem, Memory, Sequential Thinking, Time, Context7) plus search over the official MCP Registry, with third-party-code warnings for community npm/PyPI servers
- Installs servers into Alpine/Debian/Ubuntu/Kali via proot, auto-installing Node/Python deps, running over stdio with tools named mcp<server><tool>
- Also supports hosted servers (Streamable HTTP / legacy SSE with optional bearer token) and arbitrary stdio servers as custom commands
- Security per server: Ask/Allow/Block policies, per-tool switches, logs, encrypted credentials, editable-args approval sheets, and a per-command kill button
Tools can be consumed by cloud models (OpenAI/Gemini/Anthropic/DeepSeek) or on-device GGUF models via llama.cpp.
Limitations: tools only (no resources/prompts/sampling/OAuth), max 12 tools for on-device models, slow Node installs under proot, server output treated as untrusted text.
