Atomic Agent Desktop goes open-source: local Qwen/Gemma agents, cloud planning, 69.8% on GAIA L1

testingcatalog · x · 2026-10-09

Atomic Agent Desktop, a free open-source local-first AI agent, is now available for macOS, Windows, and Linux with no account required. It runs open models like Qwen and Gemma locally and only touches cloud models when selected.

Key features:

On GAIA Level 1 (53 real-world tasks, same model and machine), Atomic reports 69.8% accuracy vs Hermes Agent's 58.5%, and 1.6x faster per task (217s vs 351s), using grammar-constrained decoding (GBNF) for structurally valid tool calls plus byte-stable KV-cache prefix reuse and parallel read-only batches that overlap I/O.
