Hugging Face CEO's Manifesto: Build AI at Full Pace, With Full Accountability
olcan · x · 2026-10-09
Hugging Face CEO Clément Delangue published a long personal essay arguing that AI is a tool—like aviation or autonomous driving (Waymo)—and builders' job is to build at full pace while staying accountable for safe real-world rollouts.
He rejects two camps: "crying wolf" demands to halt AI, which only guarantees less accountable actors deploy it first; and anthropomorphizing AI as a "conscious entity," which lets builders deflect responsibility. His conclusion: build AI, at pace, with full accountability.
