Economist Open-Sources Tool That Turns Papers Into AI-Chat, Interactive Web Versions
Afinetheorem · x · 2026-10-08
Researcher Afinetheorem recommends publishing an AI-integrated, non-PDF web version of your paper alongside the PDF, and open-sourced the automation. Academic Paper Viewer ingests PDF/PPTX or LaTeX+BIB, extracts and confirms figures, converts to structured XML, and adds AI chat plus layman summaries — using a user-supplied Gemini API key kept only in browser memory. He argues PhD work should be "reproducible, efficient, open" and that PDF-only journal workflows are ridiculous in 2025.
