South Africa's actuarial body establishes AI as standalone practice area

Speaking at ASSA2026, Actuarial Society of South Africa president Nalen Naidoo said actuaries — a profession with outsized influence on global finance, investment, healthcare, pensions and insurance — must build specialist AI skills.
To that end, the society has formally established AI as a new standalone practice area, led by @RichmanRonald — a notable case of a traditional professional body putting AI into its governance structure.
