Timelock encryption via drand: browser-side encryption that only decrypts at a scheduled reveal time
ctjlewis · x · 2026-10-08
Developer ctjlewis demonstrates timelock encryption built on drand, the threshold randomness beacon run by the League of Entropy. Messages are encrypted locally in the browser — plaintext never leaves it — and drand publishes the secret at the scheduled reveal time, at which point the server can decrypt and display the content. Until then, nobody, including the service operator, can read the message, making it useful for prediction attestation and scheduled reveals without trusting a central party.
