Jev-Mem replaces LLM calls with thresholds for agent memory decisions
Hacubu · x · 2026-10-08
The mem0 team published Jev-Mem: Memory Decisions Without an LLM, arguing that the many small decisions in agent memory systems don't need an LLM that writes sentences—thresholds can do the job.
- Core idea: memory write/keep decisions via threshold rules instead of LLM generation
- Result: faster and cheaper memory maintenance
- Sydney Runkle amplified it, noting deciding what to keep in memory is a great task for a decision model
- Caveat: thresholds were tested with one model on one benchmark only
