Autonomous Trash-Picking Quadruped: Extended Arm Links and a Crouch Trick to Fix Reachability
IsaiahBallah · x · 2026-10-08
A developer shared the first live demo of an autonomous trash-picking solution combining a Unitree Go2 quadruped with a LeRobot SO101 arm. To solve reachability, the author added extended links to the arm for longer reach while keeping reasonable payload, defined a reachability region around the quadruped, and made the robot crouch when targets fall inside that region. Next step: moving the camera to an onboard Raspberry Pi 5 to eliminate cable stress.
