AI Answer Engines Recommend on Evidence, Not Content: You Have a Validation Problem, Not a Visibility Problem
sanderssays · x · 2026-10-08
Marketer Sanders argues that agents inside answer engines recommend products based on evidence, not gratitude for your content. Companies can win citations yet still not get recommended as the product, since agents separate information entities from product entities.
His core take: in a zero-click world, pipeline problems are validation problems, not visibility problems. AEO is use-case dependent:
- Want traffic? Build content to drive citations.
- Want revenue? Build evidence to win the validation layer.
He calls this one of the biggest marketing disruptions since AI search became the starting point for commercial intent.
