Why AI Is Impossible: A 1984 Soviet Cybernetics Critique, Revisited
jpqwerty · reddit · 2026-10-08
A 1984 Soviet article by A. V. Brushlinsky argues machine intelligence is impossible: machines and math are 'disjunctive' systems of clearly separated parts switching in discrete steps, while mental processes are organically intertwined and non-disjunctive, expressible only via dialectical logic. A fascinating historical companion to today's AGI debates.
