Sentry CEO rebuts theo: tasks from a year ago aren't even 10x cheaper, compute hasn't collapsed in price
zeeg · x · 2026-10-08
Responding to theo, Sentry CEO David Cramer (@zeeg) — who stopped writing code in July — argued the right comparison is tasks that were already achievable 12 months ago. Data analysis, search, and generative writing yield only marginally better results today, and nowhere near two orders of magnitude cheaper, maybe not even one, because there is no way to actually access compute at a drastically lower price. Caching gains and other advances haven't changed that picture much.
