UK school appoints country's first dedicated AI literacy teacher for all pupils

Mearns Castle High School in East Renfrewshire, Scotland has appointed Jamie Laycock, believed to be the UK's first dedicated principal teacher of AI literacy, teaching every S1 and S2 pupil, with older years covered via citizenship/PSE classes and a senior elective.
Lessons include spotting real vs. AI-generated images (harder than students expected), hallucinations, sycophantic chatbots, and training-data bias. The author notes the spot-the-fake exercise costs nothing and any school can run it this week.
