- Microsoft unveiled Magnetic Connect, a magnetic USB-C charging solution for the new Surface Laptop Ultra, replacing the retired proprietary Surface Connect port. The cable snaps magnetically onto a right-side USB-C port that still supports video, data, and standard USB-C uses.
- Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri demoed it at the company's Windows event: "bring the connector close, and it snaps right into place." The accessory itself remains proprietary.
- The Surface Laptop Ultra packs an Nvidia RTX Spark chip for gaming, creative workloads, and on-device AI models. It starts at $2,599 (18-core CPU, 24GB RAM, 512GB storage), with preorders open and shipping beginning October 16.
