AI turns work into snacking: how one developer reclaims the pause
every · x · 2026-10-07
Jack Cheng noticed AI turned his work into "snacking": any feature idea was instantly delegated to a model, and he stopped asking whether the feature—or the project—deserved his time.
Usage limits used to break that cycle by forcing ideas to wait. Now he deliberately recreates the pause:
- Let a feature idea sit overnight
- Before asking AI a hard question, write down why it matters
- Write your own tentative answer too
Some ideas still deserve attention tomorrow; others lose their appeal once the payoff isn't immediate.
