Stanford HAI Report: What Makes AI-for-Good Partnerships Between Nonprofits and AI Labs Work
StanfordHAI · x · 2026-10-07
Stanford HAI's new white paper examines partnerships between frontier AI labs and nonprofits deploying AI for social good, a sector where funders have invested hundreds of millions of dollars. Drawing on interviews with 36 people across 24 organizations and four case studies, it maps how these partnerships form and what drives or undermines success. Key finding: effective collaborations bridge overlapping but complementary goals — nonprofits mainly seek technical expertise to deploy and evaluate AI and insight into advancing their mission. The report offers recommendations for structuring partnership and funding arrangements.
