Cold outbound for high-DR backlinks: quality-first, be linkable before you pitch
iannuttall · x · 2026-10-07
iannuttall shares a playbook for earning high-DR backlinks via cold outbound without paying for links:
- Rule 1: be linkable. 99% of cold outbound fails because the site offers nothing worth linking to; spamming casino/essay links is a guaranteed fail. Do less, with more quality.
- Start from competitors: find links competitors have that you don't — established media, .gov/.edu, high-DR blogs — and build your prospect list from there, then run an agent across it for outreach.
- His example: a hobby science tool site that already earned links from NASA, proving "linkable first, outreach second."
Quoting nickgraynews from the receiving end: he gets 5-10 link-insertion requests weekly and none have been worth his time — the difference is likely whether you build things people actually want to link to.
