OpenAI Deprecates Legacy API Keys, Developers Have 15 Days to Migrate
ThePeterMick · x · 2026-10-07
OpenAI is deprecating legacy user API keys. Developers have until Oct 22 (15 days) to migrate to new keys, or their services — including solo SaaS startups — will stop working.
You can check your keys at platform.openai.com under Settings → API keys, which has a separate tab for legacy vs. new user API keys. Affected users receive a migration notice email like the one shown.
