OpenAI reveals 722 AI-generated math manuscripts at ~3 hours of compute per result

The rumors were real: OpenAI published 722 mathematical manuscripts produced by an unreleased internal model, grouped into 372 families of related results from an eval of 4,000 research problems, using an average of just 3 hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking compute per result. The release includes papers, proof artifacts, and selected reasoning summaries; the model itself remains unreleased.

After a close read, @kimmonismus argues the list is absurd: a zero-free half-plane for the zeta function (Re s > 7/8), the first such result in over a century; Hilbert's tenth problem over the rationals; the Hodge conjecture for CM abelian varieties; irrationality of Catalan's constant — any one would normally be a career. Efficiency has also skyrocketed: a month ago the Navier–Stokes attempt took 10,000 agents and 88 hours, now down to 3 hours per result. OpenAI also claims to have solved the quasi-Riemann hypothesis, which would be historic if verified.
