GesturePortal: open-source gesture-controlled live AI webcam portal, fully local
Time-Ad-7720 · reddit · 2026-10-07
GesturePortal is a free, open-source gesture-controlled live AI camera: make an L-shape with both hands and a window opens in your webcam feed showing an anime-styled version of the scene, movable with your hands. Architecture: OpenCV capture + MediaPipe hand tracking, a Python viewer for gestures and soft-edge masks, and local ComfyUI for styling. Key insight: continuously style the full scene and let gestures drive a mask between real and styled feeds, instead of restyling a moving crop. On an RTX 5070 Ti: 3.6 updates/sec with Portrait v2, 0.7–0.9 with FLUX.2 Klein 4B, 0.4 with Qwen Image 2.1. Code, workflows and setup are on GitHub.
