Princeton researcher Ofir Press says OpenAI's recent math breakthrough will hit coding in 6-18 months. He clarifies he doesn't doubt AI coding is amazing, but coding hasn't reached 'Navier-Stokes level' yet — agents would need to rewrite ffmpeg or SQLite, making them 5x faster with 2x less memory, to get there.
