BossConsole: open-source desktop workspace exposing 200+ MCP tools to coding agents
kshivang · reddit · 2026-10-07
Risa Labs co-founder and CTO launched BossConsole, an open-source desktop workspace that brings coding agents, terminals, a browser, an editor, and logs into one place — running Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and more side by side on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
- Core MCP layer: 200+ MCP tools expose workspace capabilities to agents, with per-tool controls and approval gates for actions
- Started as a side project in Feb 2025, inspired by IDE plugin ecosystems: 'if a tool is available to me in my workspace, why can't my agent use it?'
- Design philosophy: keep tools and their visible interfaces together to follow what agents do, inspect results, and take over when needed

The author asks how others handle tool discovery and permissions as MCP tool counts grow.
