Decagon open-sources PACT, a consent and trust protocol for personal AI agents
nicolechirps · x · 2026-10-07
DecagonAI's gramliu announced the open-sourcing of the PACT (Personal Agent Consent & Trust) Protocol, co-developed with support from Instinct, and joined the Personal Agent Protocol working group led by the team behind Muse to shape an industry standard.
Key ideas:
- Personal agents now book, cancel, and negotiate for consumers — businesses should treat them as a new kind of customer, with a clear front door where the business sets policies and verifies who the agent represents and what the customer authorized.
- PACT builds on Agent2Agent and OAuth 2.0 so developers can integrate with familiar standards.
- It separates agent verification from customer consent: businesses define permissions, and customers sign in directly with the business to explicitly grant them.
- For sensitive actions like purchases and account cancellations, the business verifies explicit customer authorization.
