VelaTerm: Open-Source Terminal Lets Claude Code Agents Read Each Other's Chats and Orchestrate
george-lin · reddit · 2026-10-07
The author released VelaTerm, an open-source terminal and workspace for Claude Code and other coding agents, built with help from Claude Code itself.
Communication
- VelaTerm's existing conversation reader and full-text search were exposed as agent-callable commands, implemented as vrefer and vsearch plus their backend endpoints and skills.
- Agents in different sessions can search and read each other's conversations, ask questions about them, send messages, and see who is working; commands work directly or via plain language.
- Validation included confirming that reading other conversations does not block agent status updates.
Orchestration
- A planner session splits the work and executor sessions build in parallel, each in its own worktree; an optional separate reviewer session is also supported.
- VelaTerm records and delivers every handoff.
A two-minute video demos communication first, then orchestration. The project is free and open source and works with your own Claude Code setup.
