Steve Yegge backs Beads as agent memory standard, 1.5M downloads and a new wire protocol
Steve_Yegge · x · 2026-10-07
Steve Yegge hails Beads as the oldest, most mature OSS memory system for coding agents — the foundation of his work for the past year. The Gas City team announced 1.5M downloads (27k+ GitHub stars) and previewed Memory Beads with versioning plus BDP, a proposed wire protocol extending Beads from issue tracking to general project knowledge. His take: you don't need new 'company brain' products, just Beads.
