teortaxesTex: Tinker-style self-upgrading agents may be the last defensible FOOM logic
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-10-07
teortaxesTex uses RichardMCNgo's hard sci-fi piece "Tinker" as an intuition pump for a moderately superintelligent agent building a qualitatively superior computational substrate. He admits it's probably wrong but argues this is the remaining defensible version of FOOM logic, and would be consequential if true — the simplest case being harnessing high-throughput, scalable atomic/molecular assembly for custom "chips".
