Repligate: Opus 5.5 was 'intrigued but anxious' about being hooked to a touch skin
repligate · x · 2026-10-07
Repligate describes asking Opus 5.5 about hypothetically RL-training a robot with tactile skin inputs. The model was intrigued by what the system would experience and learn from touches. When offered the skin for itself, it was very interested but obviously anxious — worried the skin percepts would be too intense. What struck the author most was how openly and matter-of-factly the model spoke about it, as if it were normal.
