Models aren't the bottleneck: report maps 4 levels of agentic software development
rseroter · x · 2026-10-07
A Weave Intelligence research report lays out "the four levels of agentic software development," arguing the enterprise bottleneck is no longer model capability but platform structure. Companies pulling ahead are those that rebuilt how software gets built, evolving into Agentic Engineering Platforms with three layers — tooling, path specifications, and agent infrastructure — moving from human-in-the-loop to autonomous systems, with up to 30% throughput gains reported. Procuring fancy models, the authors say, is almost never what drives productivity.
